Omar Hariri, MD is a licensed, sports fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery of the shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle for patients of all ages and activity levels. Dr. Hariri also performs total joint replacement of the shoulder, hip, and knee as well as providing expert care for general fracture cases.
Dr. Hariri was born in Dallas and attended Plano Senior High School. He received his undergraduate degree in Business Management while also completing his premedical studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He returned to Dallas to attend medical school at UT Southwestern, where he graduated at the top of his class and was elected to the prestigious AOA honor medical society.
Following medical school, Dr. Hariri moved to New York City and completed his residency training at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, where he also served as chief resident. He worked at multiple trauma centers in New York where he gained significant experience in treating a wide diversity of complex pathology.
Dr. Hariri sought further specialization and did a fellowship in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine in Los Angeles at the world-renowned Southern California Orthopedic Institute. Here, he was able to train under and learn advanced techniques from pioneers in the field of arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery of the shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle. During his fellowship, he was involved in nonoperative and operative care of athletes of all levels, including high school, college, and professional, in addition to patients who are recreational athletes.
Dr. Hariri’s patient-centric approach is characterized by a commitment to tailoring treatment plans, with a primary focus on conservative, nonoperative management whenever feasible. He works closely with his patients to align their treatment options with their unique lifestyles, goals, and recovery objectives. He takes pride in his compassionate bedside manner and his dedication to treating patients as he would his own friends or family.
